AARON MELANSON – Breakdance Instructor

Aaron, A.K.A BBoy Aplus, was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta and moved to Calgary in 1997. It was there he began breakdance and has been a part of several Breakdance Crews and is most known for being a part of Original Rudes out of Calgary and Fresh Format out of Montreal. He joined Gx International based out of Kansas City Missouri in 2004 and began touring with a team of Breakdancers, Hip Hop Dancers, Skaters, BMX and Djs. He has trained in breakdance for 12 years which has taken him around the world to Holland, Australia, Ukraine, Belize and U.S.A.. He has competed in over 100 Breakdance competitions and has won many which has made him known as one of Canada’s best. Aaron is known for his fun attitude and aggressive style of breakdance filled with explosive power moves and dynamic footwork. He has been noticed by many Dance Studio’s and students as having an eye to instruct breakdance like no one else. He has taught with J-Fish, Crossing Dance Academy in Calgary and Decidedly Jazz Dance in Calgary. He has used breakdance as a tool to travel the world teaching youth how to live positive healthy lifestyle and looks forward to applying his 12 years of experience to help breakdance students at the Global Expressions Dance Studio be the best they can be.

KENDRA MELANSON – Hip Hop Instructor

Kendra, A.K.A Bgirl Quest, was born in Saskatoon Saskatchewan where she began dancing at the age of 4. She trained at Saskatoon School of Dance for 15 years reaching a goal of performing with Polvychenko Folkloric Ensemble in Saskatoon. In 2001 she was ready for change and she began to Breakdance with J-Fish Floor Crew. The mix of dance studio technique with raw BBoy mixed perfect and blended to Hip Hop. She joined the missions dance company called Gx International out of Kansas City Missouri in 2002 and toured with Breakdancers, Hip Hop Dancers, Skaters, BMX and DJs. Dancing and Breakdancing with GX International has taken her around the world to Ukraine, Holland, Australia, Denmark, Norway, U.S.A, India, Belize and New Zealand where she has instructed classes, put on workshops, trained and performed. As a touring dance artist Kendra has competed and won hip hop and breakdance competitions in Austraila, Canada, USA and New Zealand. As a dancer Kendra is known for her ability to adapt to various styles. As a breaker she is known for her style and ability to light up a piece of music by hitting beats. Her goal is excellence in dance so she may influence other dancers and upcoming youth to live a positive healthy lifestyle.

Due to the retirement of J-Fish General Manager/Instructor Kurtis “Wolfy” Albers and J-Fish Administrator Chandy Albers, the hip hop studio portion of the J-Fish organization has been passed on. Kurtis & Chandy have collaborated with Aaron and Kendra Melanson, two amazing, passionate and well-seasoned dancers to ensure past and potential students still have an opportunity to continue their breakdance and hip hop lessons. Aaron is one of the top breakdancers in all of Canada and Kendra, who has incredible hip hop and breakdance talents herself, is actually one of the original J-Fish Floor Crew members when it started back in 2001.

Global eXpression Dance Studio will be teaching Breakdance and Hip Hop Lessons at the same great Central venue, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, beginning September 7, 2010. Global eXpression Dance Studio will offer world class Breakdance and Hip Hop Lessons from instructors that have traveled the globe teaching, training and performing.
